Open Sky: Independents

In the early days of space travel, many groups took to the stars in generation-ships, hoping to lay claim on distant planets. These earliest pioneers were invariably overtaken by faster, more advanced ships on the way to their destinations. With no planets to claim, most independents became space-faring micronations.
